We are excited to offer a new opportunity to join our R&D and Technical Team in a permanent position as R&D Technical Manager – Forage Additives. This role reports to Mark Legget, Head of R&D and Technical. 

About the role
This pivotal role within the R&D department will lead the development of Volac’s business in the Forage Product Family. It involves close collaboration with the Global Product Manager, the R&D lab team, the Operations Manager, and the quality department, as well as the technical services and commercial sales teams. 

Principle Responsibilities

  • Provide R&D leadership for the Forage product family and support global sales and marketing efforts.
  • Develop and deliver training for Global technical services teams.
  • Lead and support innovation projects, from idea generation through to product validation.
  • Manage and maintain product specifications and ensure compliance with legal and feed safety standards.
  • Support manufacturing and quality teams to ensure the production of high-quality forage products.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, academia, and industry bodies, raising Volac’s professional profile through conference presentations and industry engagement.

Skills Required

  • BSc or MSc in Microbiology, Animal Science, Biological Sciences, or Agriculture-related subject (PhD desirable).
  • Strong research experience with proven experimental design and data literacy.
  • Expertise in animal science relevant to forage products, with the ability to communicate clearly and influence internally and externally.
  • A proactive, innovative thinker who can drive technical excellence and embody Volac’s core values.
  • Ability to travel to other Volac sites and external engagements as needed.
  • Line management experience would be advantageous, as this role includes responsibility for one direct report.
